Watercolor art for little rooms & big imaginations
Welcome to Little Splashes of Color! I’m Kathy Jurek, the artist behind the artwork.
I create watercolor art that brings color, charm, and a sense of wonder to nurseries and children’s rooms. From well-loved trains and busy construction trucks to airplanes, sailboats, and woodland animals, my paintings celebrate the things that capture a child’s imagination.
Watercolor is at the heart of my work. I love the way colors mingle on paper, the softness of a wash, and the little unexpected details that make each painting its own. Paired with pencil details, those qualities give my artwork the playful, hand-painted character I want to preserve in every print.
With a background in children’s illustration, I approach each piece with an eye for both personality and simplicity. My goal is to create art that feels at home in a thoughtfully decorated room while still being something a child can connect with and enjoy.
Each art print begins with my original hand-painted watercolor. I produce my paper prints in my studio on museum-quality smooth hot press fine art paper, carefully reproducing the colors and delicate details of the original painting.
Thank you for visiting my little corner of the watercolor world. I hope you find something that feels just right for the little room—and big imagination—in your life.
