I never imagined I’d ever be painting fighter jets, but my husband’s love for military aircraft and my own time spent near a flight line sparked my interest.
My husband grew up at Langley AFB, the son of a Chief Master Sergeant, and spent his childhood building model airplanes and learning everything he could about them. His passion for aviation was contagious, and a couple of years ago, after watching Black Sheep Squadron for the millionth time, he asked if I would paint his favorite WWII airplane, the F4U Corsair. I painted it along with the P-51 Mustang and then stalled until a customer asked for a set of 4 WWII airplanes. Fast forward and there are presently over 30 airplanes plus two ships and some helicopters! The collection continues to grow as I get feedback from my customers so please feel free to let me know if there's an airplane or military vehicle you'd like that I don't have yet.
I'm in the process of repainting some of my airplanes so that when they're printed at larger sizes you will see more detail and my latest painting is the F/A-18 Super Hornet. I filmed about 90% of the process. I hope you like it.
(If you're interested in watercolor painting, I only used 3 colors: burnt umber, ultramarine blue and a bit of raw sienna.)
